For Middle and High School Students

Future Ready by LINK Lake Norman is a student-focused program for middle and high school students to explore careers and plan their futures. It helps students find their passions and strengths, then choose a pathway to trade and technical schools, college, certifications, trades, or work. They learn skills like resume writing, teamwork, leadership, and money management while figuring out "What's Next for ME?" Middle school students also pick courses that match their future goals.

We work with schools, teachers, principals, businesses, and local groups to provide hands-on, fun learning with engaging facilitators—no traditional teachers—to give students a break from regular lessons.

Mentorship & Valuable Internships

Our mentor program allows students to use their skills in unpaid internships that are highly valuable and rewarding. Community Partnerships & Workforce Development

LINK Lake Norman is deeply committed to workforce, economic, and business development. By partnering with local organizations, we help businesses grow, connect, and flourish through events, training, and collaborative projects—leveraging resources right in our own backyard. This approach keeps talent and opportunity local, strengthening the entire community.

Direct Connections to Business, Community, and Opportunities

A key feature of LINK Lake Norman is putting students in direct contact with local businesses, nonprofits, and professionals—such as resume writers, recruiters, and career coaches—who help them prepare for their next steps. This not only exposes students to a wide range of careers but also helps businesses and nonprofits connect with their future workforce and team members. As I often say, "don't just look at a business's name—think about all the roles that make it run, from marketing to logistics to finance. Just think, the student says they would never work at an HVAC company, but look at what makes that company thrive? They may be searching for their next great marketing, finance, sales, or IT team member!" This needs to be focused on by both students and employers. Many of these jobs (HR, IT, Marketing, Sales, Finance, Logistics, etc) can be very profitable with a 2-year degree. If you're bilingual, your value rises.

— Harris H. - Intern from the PIVOT Internship

As a former intern in the LNED PIVOT internship program, I had the privilege of meeting and working with Ms. Lane. She is an incredibly professional and kind individual who brought a sense of fun and engagement to the entire internship. She was never afraid to help break the ice, fostering a collaborative environment that brought everyone together and made the internship truly enjoyable. Her unwavering commitment to giving everyone the help and support they need, without question, was incredible and helped to bring both a rewarding and memorable summer for every intern. Every interaction with her was lively, engaging, insightful, and ultimately an amazing experience. I look forward to more opportunities to continue working and learning from her in the future. Thank you Ms. Lane for the amazing experience.
